As I sit here reflecting on the past year ready to write a blog post, so many thoughts go through my head. My first thought - I had really hoped I would be better at this blogging thing - with more frequent updates. Once a year is better than once in blue moon, right?
The rest of my thoughts are centered around the fact that this year has gone by in more than just a blink. It has been a year full of family, exploration, cultivating new friendships, finding community, mixed in with some trips back to Washington to connect with Seattle peeps (at least for me).
Over the year we have been to a family wedding, recital, baptisms, graduations, birthdays, a college exploration trip, most of which in the past would have sounded nice but we probably would not have been able to be part of. We hosted Tim's family for Thanksgiving and my family for Christmas. We have really enjoyed seeing our family and look forward to more. We managed to buy a home in a fantastic neighborhood in the tight Austin market, Tim made a huge career shift and I adjusted to working remotely. We have found a wonderful neighborhood, school and church community.
While our decision to move back to Texas has been affirmed over and over, we have missed being with our Seattle friends for some major events too - the births of children for some of our closest friends, the loss of family members for other dear friends, seeing the satellite branch of our church grow and thrive, the best summer in Seattle in years, oh and that Superbowl thing. (Go Hawks!)
The past 12 months have been filled with joy, laughter, tears, frustration, challenges, successes, adventure and love, but the 12 months before that in Seattle were filled with that too. No matter our location, it has been important that we make the most of life and love those around us.
With that in mind, I say to our Seattle friends, c'mon down. We have plenty of room for you to stay at our place and will show you a great time! The same goes for the Texans around the state that are not in Austin. You're welcome to stay here anytime. Austin friends - you have welcomed us with open arms, offered help and suggestions and we are grateful for you and look forward to hanging out more and getting even more involved in the community.
365 days - what a whirlwind. Happy Texaversary to the Bosworths! Let's see what the next 365 has in store.
